We're official now

The Aquaville vlag has been finished and is now towering high above our tents!

The Aquaville pool party

Yesterday evening we were having a nice BBQ when all hell broke loose and the big swimming pool in the sky came pouring down on us. kingmob, xmath and myself decided that since it was raining anyway, we might as well go and splash around in the swimming pool.

Check out the photo and post on kingmob’s blog! Oh and the story’s been picked up by another blog too :).

Allnighter

Didn’t go to bed last night. I have Jolt Cola to thank for that.

WTH! Keynote!

OMFGZ!WTF!BBQ!!!!11111

Day four and we’re waiting in the main tent (oh my god this fucker’s hot) to hear the keynote speech by Rop Gongrijp and Emmanuel Goldstein… and we just heard that they’ll start about 15 minutes late. In the meantime I’ll just mention that we had a rather hefty thunderstorm with some fierce winds this morning, but for the moment it’s an all clear sky.

Some preflight checks… and we have liftoff.

Nice detail: regular attendees have green armbands, cops have pink ones and speaker armbands are purple. Apparently some people don’t really know the difference between purple and pink, so the speakers are mistakingly being harassed by people who think they’re cops.

Rob just took a small poll with a show of hands. Basically questions along the lines of “who went to the previous camps” and “from what country are you”?

Quote of the keynote (paraphrasing):

“Whoever feels that his/her being unreachable would present a life threatening situation for the rest of us, examples being terrorist experts or that one person who can disarm a nuclear bomb. They can leave their cellphones on, the rest of you: please turn them off.”

Aquaville is a go!

So far, so good. We’ve been here for 3 days now and everything’s starting to shape up nicely. Aquaville is now pretty active and buzzing with activity, the flag has been raised and we finally have internet. Well, no we don’t. Yes, we do. No, it’s down again… and back up (*sigh*).

Images are being uploaded to my flickr account as soon as I get time to offload them from the camera onto the powerbook (and have a working netconnection obviously). More pictures can be found in the ‘What The Hack‘-group.

As far as the weather goes, it’s ok although there’s some heavy showers at times.
